This is a Free office suite ( includes a word processor, spreadsheet, database etc ) supported by Java snd Sun. ( If you dont know who Java and Sun are, dont worry)
And its pretty darn good too.

This is an online scanner for Malware, Viruses etc. Its probably the most thorough scanner about, but its also the one that will take the longest. This is the one to run if you've had a virus and managed to get rid of it, to check that your machine is actuallly clean.

This is another online scanner, if you think you have a viurs, and cant be sure your normal anti-virus is operating properly, this will scan your PC for the latest nasties. All free of charge. Good scanner for doing initial runs if you think you have a virus and your local application is not working.

This is the only main free alternative to Windows in-built firewall, and can be installed on most machines. Its supported by Checkpoint ( big player ) and has some restrictions for the advanced users, but for most basic users the program is fine.
FREE WEBSITES :TERAPAD
The website you are reading all this on is available free. There is some google advertising on it, but for free its more than acceptable. If you want to get rid of the adverts you can subscribe at $14 a month. All the content is controlled by yourself and you can even link it to your Paypal Account.

ADAWARE ANTI SPYWARE
Adaware is probably one of the longest surviving free anti-spyware programs. This is free as you have to manually run the program from time to time. If you want continued protection, then you can buy the more advanced version.
WINDOWS DEFENDER
This is microsoft's answer to Adaware, and its pretty good. Its Free providing you have a valid version of Windows XP. This has the benefit of updating automatically and running periodic scans on the pc to keep it clean.
